Ingredients
- 6 medium Apples (variety like Gala, Fuji, or Honeycrisp)
- ¾ cup Granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 2 discs Pie crust dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 unit Beaten egg (for wash)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Prepare a 9-inch pie dish.
- Peel, core, and thinly slice 6 medium apples. Toss the slices with 0.75 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
- Line the pie dish with one disc of pie crust. Pour in the apple filling and distribute 2 tablespoons of cubed butter over it.
- Cover with the second disc of pie crust, sealing and crimping the edges. Brush the surface with beaten egg.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-45 more minutes, until golden brown and bubbly. Tent with foil if necessary.
- Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
