Ingredients
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 2 teaspoons Black tea (Assam or Darjeeling)
- 1 tablespoon Piloncillo (or dark brown sugar)
- 3 pods Cardamom (crushed pods)
- ½ teaspoon Fresh ginger (grated)
- 1 piece Whole cloves
- 1 piece Cinnamon (small stick)
Directions
- In a pot, heat the water and whole milk with the piloncillo.
- Add the spices: crushed cardamom, grated ginger, cloves, and cinnamon.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Let the spices infuse for 5-7 minutes.
- Add the black tea and cook over low heat for 3-5 minutes, until desired color is achieved.
- Strain the chai through a fine-mesh sieve and serve immediately.
